Hello beautiful Soul!

I’m Faith, a painter, wife, mother and teacher making my home & studio in gorgeous sunny Charleston, South Carolina.

I’m a classically trained painter with a deep love for abstraction, earning my MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design in 2001. With over 20 years of personal painting experience, creating and showing my work, I love connecting with other creative women and inspiring them to manifest their most heartfelt ideas through creating art. I love seeing those moments of transformation that come from going within and exploring our inspirations and authentic voices.

My approach to painting is intuitive and personal, I work to transform the public world of nature into a place of private knowledge. I draw inspiration from nature’s wild and small moments: mountains, moons, clouds, flowers, rain. Using these recurring motifs I speak to the relationship between the ephemeral and the eternal. I paint quickly and in many layers using acrylic and mixed media, creating washes, embracing drips and other happy accidents reflecting nature’s unpredictability while building up layers, texture and pattern.

I think that the more we share our experiences the more light we are able to give each other. I’ve been interviewed many times and answered all kinds of questions: from my painting process, being a mom and an artist, my birth experiences. Check out all those interviews right here

When I’m not in the studio you’ll find me biking around our neighborhood with my husband and three young children, constantly revamping our garden and home into a secret hideaway, and always planning our next adventure!

You can find my work at Rosewater Gallery in Asheville, NC, as well as in my own shop and by appointment at my studio in Charleston, contact me to schedule a visit.
